The Benton Dips (coined by yours truly), is a section of road on California Highway 120 heading east from US-395 from Lee Vining and Yosemite.
We always take this route traveling from Las Vegas to Yosemite, Tahoe, and other East Sierra locations, due to it’s less traffic and being less boring.
The road seems like it would be a gentle road with only flatlands for many miles, but an ominous road sign marks the beginning of the Benton Dips!
Depending on the direction, it starts as gentle drops in the road, but when you let your guard down, the road seems to drop away with 20ft dips one after another!
It’s a fun break in the monotony of the road but please be careful!
